In response to prompt 1720, "put down the weapons":


One by one, the swords fell from their hands. The room was still as the echoes of steel on stone faded.

Then, over in the corner, the troubadours struck up a tentative melody. Maids began to recirculate with their trays of wine and ale. A few hearty souls swung into a country dance, and before long, even the soldiers were singing.

His pulse pounding madly, Sebastian forced himself to approach the woman with the amber curls. She did not notice him at first, preoccupied as she was with the music.

Swallowing his nerves, he bowed. "May I have this dance?"
